Thanks for looking guys.
Yes Nathan they certainly are soft (and the noise is much higher from camera
at 1600 ISO). Alastair and I got to spend a couple of hours with the folks
at the new Leica Camera Headquarters here and I had an S outfit (the whole
birthday present set in matching case ;-) to try out some handling while we
chatted and ate Black Forest cake! The new subsidiary company is doing very
well here and will have a large presence at the national photo show here
over the next few days. I have a previous engagement looming ;-)
Like every other medium format camera it is not made for very high ISO low
light handheld stuff but it was fun to try out. The handling experience was
very instructive and the viewfinder especially is superb.
I actually had a bit of a Road to Damascus moment afterwards in that I had
my M and fast lenses with me and could have done much better with that. I do
hope to have a future opportunity to try the S System in a studio
environment where they truly excel. They ought to be truly wonderful
landscape tools too of course.

They look a bit soft, but the subject matter, especially in the third image,
makes up for it ;-)

Cheers,
Nathan
