I'm strong on updating immediately to LR5. Of the various improvements over the previous version, I find the new spot remover, which can remove larger blemishes than mere spots very easily, and the new mask (whatever they actually call it) where an elliptical outline whose size and shape can be easily adjusted acts as a mask with excellent feathering, can be used to either exclude the masked region or to exclude the region outside of the mask, with all sorts of parameters then available. If you look at my recent caturday picture, you will see reasonable detail in that face of that cat. I had to increase "exposure" in that area; the face was in deep shadow as taken. I realize there is has been an adjustment brush in all LR versions which theoretically can do similar things, but I was never very successful with it. Considering that I had no difficulty dodging or burning in the darkroom, I don't understand why I found the adjustment brush so hard to use.
