If I were (1) a professional photographer who (2) relies on a Leica M240 and
who (3) could shoot at your level of talent, the 50 Summilux would loom over
my head, keeping me up at nights if I didn?t have one. You shoot enough
outdoors (i.e., not candlelight) that the Noctilux is usually not mandatory.
The lighter weight of the Summilux, its sharpness, and its bokeh make it a
very attractive lens for what you do and the level of enlargement that you
need.

I think there may be more anecdotal evidence of people foregoing their
Noctilux in favor of a Summilux 50 (rather than the reverse). There may be
seller?s remorse after selling a Noctilux, so both lenses might be best.

If I ever can get outdoors in good weather without being leashed to a
hyperactive min pin, I?ll put the newly revised 50/1.5 Nokton to some use
and post some images. At a fraction of the cost of a Summilux, it is a very
nice lens handling-wise, much more attractive and better feeling than the
first generation Nokton of yesteryear.
