To answer your question, no flash, but a flashlight. I dimmed my flashlight to a small spot with my fingers, then painted it up and down the cactus a few times. I have quite a few attempts, but most were too bright, or my spot was not good enough and spilled over onto the ground. I chose the darker one as more natural looking. The ones with the trailer were done in the same fashion, but with a slightly bigger and brighter spot as they were further away than the cactus.
