Sony are a huge company with great resources but they are losing large amounts of money overall currently. Leica Camera is a medium size enterprise selling niche products at premium prices and doing better than they have for years. People buy Leica for all sorts of reasons, lower prices to compete with Sony or Olympus or Fujifilm isn't one of them ;-) . It is just not only about price. In some respects to is because of the premium prices. The Monochrom and M maybe compete as well as cross pollinate and the S is operating in even more rarefied air. What we do know is that they have a new AF system coming and Its said to be at a lower price point (and quite different from) the M system. The CEO indicated that its likely to be APSC. Let's see what emerges. There will be plenty of comment on the wisdom or otherwise of their decisions and much gnashing of teeth when it is not a shrunken cheaper M, I'm sure!
