Good to know. I've been looking at them the last couple days to specifically 
mirror the iPad. I assumed they'd just work for that.

Have you talked to Apple about the Mavericks issue? Or researched the issues 
on line?

I only know one person who has the device. Relatively recent acquisition. So 
far they seem happy with it. I know a couple others with some of the other 
"black box" alternatives to cable and satellite subscriptions. They seem 
happy to use a device that allows more specificity in choosing content than 
subscribing to 300 channels in order to access 15.
