The J reg was used from August 1970 to July 1971, and, as there was one - albeit a tintop - close to me in Dublin owned by a chappie called Smurfit, plus as I got a lift in one of the James Bond DB5s and was smitten, I made it a certain life interest to know all about the cars. That phase has passed somewhat... :-) Douglas ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Laurel" <jplaurel at spectare.com> To: "Leica Users Group" <lug at leica-users.org> Sent: Sunday, May 04, 2014 9:55 PM Subject: Re: [Leica] Gems found while scanning 40-year-old slides How nice to see that DB5 being enjoyed in its own era. Well, I suppose it would have been as much as 9 years old by the time you took this photo in '74. The car in your picture is a "short chassis" DB5 Volante, of which only 37 were produced between Oct '65-Oct '66. A machine like that in good condition would be practically priceless in 2014. --Jim On May 3, 2014, at 9:41 PM, Howard Ritter <hlritter at bex.net> wrote: > Taken on my motorcycle trip through England, France, Germany, and Austria, > May 1974.
