I tried a reset with no change and then tried to reinstall the new firmware. However it just reports 'complete' immediately and then no change in the behaviour. I'll try the grip on another M tomorrow at my dealers. If the fault is there then Leica here will just replace it for me. Otherwise I am going to be a very sad customer if the fault is in my camera (serviced for impact damage 6 months ago).
