I use Photoshop alone for editing my film scans, but for processing RAW files from my digital cameras, Lightroom makes it easier to go through the photos from a shoot, pick the ones to edit, and do basic editing (white balance, lens distortion corrections, etc.) quickly. Photoshop is really best for editing single images, not for working with larger numbers. Most photos I do require some more in-depth work, dodging and burning and such, which I think Photoshop's layers and masking abilities are better at than Lightroom. I don't use LR for cataloging, I find it slow and cumbersome for that, and I'd have to put my film scans in it. I use Microsoft Expression Media for that. Phase One bought the software from Microsoft a few yrs back, and they sell it as Phase One Media Pro (It was originally called iView Media Pro before Microsoft bought iView, then MS decided they didn't want it after all, and sold it to Phase One). Of all the cataloging databases for photos that are available for Macs, I think iView/Expression Media/P1 Media Pro is the best. -- Chris Crawford Fine Art Photography Fort Wayne, Indiana 260-437-8990 http://www.chriscrawfordphoto.com My portfolio http://www.facebook.com/pages/Christopher-Crawford/48229272798 Become a fan on Facebook On 7/13/14 5:12 AM, "Mark Rabiner" <mark at rabinergroup.com> wrote: >I should not claim to know what software exactly medium format shooters >use. >I just know they have reason to use software other than Photoshop.
