Same for me in motor racing, even the Australian Grand Prix (the other side
of the World for us) arrive Wednesday evening, work Thursday, practice
Friday, qualifying Saturday, race Sunday and straight to the airport from
the circuit for the night flight home and straight to work as soon as
arriving home.
My wife went twice in 35 years, once to Montreal, where we have family, and
once to Budapest, where another wife went too and they went sight seeing
(and where we were burgled at night whilst we slept and everything
non-traceable taken which amounted to cash and film).
Funnily enough, pre digital the photogs were greatly envied since they were
the first to finish and leave the circuit, at least they got to eat in a
restaurant. Since digital they have had to work all evening like everybody
else!

I have a heap of air miles, but may well waste them, I hate the airport
experience so much.
