It?s my impression that cameras such as the Nikon D800 and the Sony A7R III 
are high rez cameras and in that end special purpose cameras for people who 
are likely to print their output. Like me. Commercial shooters also get into 
a game of certain art directors want the latest jacked up megapixels for all 
their jobs as some kind of a personal contest with the other art directors 
and it started with medium format digital but has leached into 35mm full 
frame shooting as that gear is being used for jobs about as serious now with 
these newer high rez and flagship cameras both getting to be so darned good!
It struck me that such high rez cameras are in a high rez class by 
themselves but I thought lacked some advantages of the flagship cameras such 
as the D5 or EOS-1DX whose Megapixels are half but are faster cameras which 
I also though gave better low light results and other specs I could barely 
comprehend so they need nicer names like ?Toasty? and ?Mint?. The Flagships 
do cost twice the high rez cameras and that might influence a few people 
into thinking they are better cameras. Three grad often does that.  Also the 
word ?flagship?. 
I don?t feel the Dxomark people are going to have opinions about Sony or 
whoever which is going to impact their numbers; numbers being numbers and 
these are numbers people though I do have not the greatest vibe on the 
company for other reasons:
Their dumbed down terminology gives me the giggles: 
Portrait, Landscape and Sports.  
Here Portrait or Landscape does not inanely replace vertical or horizontal.  
Dxo has ?Portrait? standing in for Color Depth. And it?s well known once you 
start using vaguely technical terms like Color Depth your clicks go down. So 
we go to Mrs. Bambara?s Kindergarten class for advice on nice words which 
don?t make people sweat.
Ditto with using the term ?Landscape? to stand in for ?Dynamic Range?.  One 
advantage to the term ?Dynamic Range? is when someone says or writes 
?Dynamic Range? then you generally get a clue that what they are referring 
to is ?Dynamic Range?. The rolling hills of West Virginia is another topic.
The Dxo people later describe ?Dynamic Range? as one of the main things 
needed for portrait shooting. They need a new PR guy. (see url below). Or 
switch Kindergarten teachers.
The third term and not the least grating is ?Sports?. Which stands in for 
these guys as ?Low-Light ISO? which is arbitrary enough for me.
Low-Light ISO is a main deal for me as my metadata tells me my normal 
cruising speed is iso 64,000 ice cream bars above sea level.  And the last 
time I shot sports Lyndon B. Johnson was the president I remember every 
sport I shot in high school being pretty well lit up or the ball would turn 
up missing which makes it hard to finish the game.
