Last week the LBJ library hosted a educational gathering on the nuclear industry in Texas partially sponsored by ret. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson's non-profit. I won't bore you with the speaker particulars but instead present some vignettes out of the attendee's. First we have a friend of mine mocking me taking another picture of him: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/What_.jpg.html This man's craggy features just appealed to me: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/profile+in+listening.jpg.html I always try to include the behind the scenes folk who make the front of the house look good: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/Prepping+the+slide+deck.jpg.html This woman looks nothing like my grandmother but her bearing and choice of clothes brings back fond memories: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/old+school+proper.jpg.html Recognizing the importance of Lady Bird to LBJ's ability to govern this man was next to a large mural of a young Lady Bird: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/I_m+with+her.jpg.html I didn't know it at the time but this woman is a lobbyist for the nuclear industry action group in Texas: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/lobbyist.jpg.html For clarification, Texas is working very hard to develop small nuclear reactors (think pick up size). The Leg allocated a significant amount of money for seeding early manufacture, there is a prototype up and running at one of the UT system campuses in north Texas. There is a beta reactor testing here in Austin in conjunction with fast tracking manufacturing capability. All the best. -- Don don.dory at gmail.com
