Dear Ed,
Great Post Dude! Yes, I too was hooked on Leicas from purchasing a Mini
three years ago. The resolution from the Mini literally obliterated my way
more expensive Nikons, which are now collecting dust in the closet. Color
saturation, presence, snap all were killer for a P & S camera.
Since then I've been slowly accumulating M series lenses for my M3. The f2
Summicrons at all focal lengths (35mm, 50mm, 90mm) are incredible. If you
think the Mini is sharp, wait until you try the M series lenses - you can
literally count the hairs on your subject's head in the pictures! Very cool.
And with the lenses wide open, the effects you can get with controlled depth
of field sharpness is incredible. The pictures look like the person can
literally walk out of the frame at you. I'm sure the CL2's will be great,
but if it ever becomes an option for you - the M series Leicas are the best
cameras I've EVER used, and I've used nearly every make. In the meanwhile,
have a great time with your Mini - it's a super little camera, and every bit
a true Leica.
