To Joe B / azurite-uk provider - sorry group, sorry Joe, I don't have your
e-mail filed...

I use a Vivitar 928 with great success. I don't think Vivitar markets in
the UK, however. The thing is quite light weight, all things considered.
The legs extend 3 fold via twisty-turny knurled retainers and everything
is very streamlined. It has an excellent head on it - not a ball type
head but darned good and flips for vertical to horizontal in a flash and
stays put!

Joe, I don't know how you carry a tripod - I know you said it was
difficult for some health problems - but this thing isn't very heavy. I
tote it in a long, zippered canvas case - made specifically for medium
size tripods - that has a shoulder strap on it....to make it so
comfortable and easy even if it was some 15 kilo behemoth. I can just
grab this thing and sling it over my shoulder, leaving both hands free for
the rest of the gear I might need. I don't know what else to suggest.
I'll look for a mfr's name but the Vivitar label - a US based marketing
company only - is the only information on it. BTW, it's a nice durable
black finish and has been a real pleasure to use. Never had a single
problem with legs not staying locked in place, head not staying in
position, etc., etc.,

I've used this thing on every camera such as the tiny Leica to my Mamiya
645 - mirror locked up - and it's pretty darned steady. It also has
twisty feet on it that allow you to select pointed spikes OR rubber pads
in case you're on a decorative surface and not something such as ice.

I have no weight figures but I'm guessing abt 4 kg or so. The cat weighs
11 kg and it's certainly not THAT heavy!!!

Regards,

Tom Hodge
