I just found the Leica price list for April 1, 1982.  Listing the following
(in part):

        R4            $ 1,695

        R lenses:

        24mm 2.8        1,155
        50mm 2.0          480
        50mm 1.4        1,425

        M4-P            1,146

        M lenses:

        21mm 2.8          870
        35mm 2.0          645

        90mm 2.8          498
        90mm 2.0          576

As I recall I purchased the M4-P, 35/2.0, 50/2.0 and 90/2.8 at a local
dealer at 80% of list - new.  The glass on the front of the rangefinder fell
out within two weeks! I wasn't well pleased at that. I don't know what
Chatterton etc prices were then.
