Come now, sir, this is a canard!  Zeiss Ikon marketed interchangeable backs
for the Contaflex and Contarex lines as early as the later 1950's and at
least one Japanese company did so in the 1960's.  Rollei, for all their
ingenuity, were rather late in the game.
