Sorry RB, but I jest not. I had the entire weekend to brood about my loss
and spent the time pouring over shutterbugs and KEH catalogs. I built up a
pretty good case for the value of my equipment and even had several dealers
FAX me quotes for replacement of my stuff. I also (at some smart persons
suggestion) had a local dealer give me a quote on replacing with new stuff
and surprisingly the diff was not that great. I had all of this in the hands
of my agent by 8:15am and received a call from an adjuster by 9:30. She was
very happy that I had done her grunt work for her and told me so. I took my
dog out for a run and when I returned at 3:30 there was a message on my
machine telling me to come to her office and pick up my check.

They did not replace with new (I insisted that they were wrong when she made
the offer to do so) but rather paid out my estimate of replacement with used
gear. This was an adequate amount for me to upgrade to an M6 (new)and two
lenses (used). My joy was not in having duped them into paying through the
nose. I was fired up because I didn't have what someone on the LUG described
as a long, drawn out process. Anytime you can get a company to move so
quickly it is a surprise.

Meanwhile, I opted for a chrome body and the latest version of the 35
Summicron and a late 50 Summicron. The body is heavenly - I've never owned a
new chrome M and it is a sight. The dealer gave me the equivilent of the tax
($270ish) in film of my choice. Not bad. Also there is a rebate program on
the M6 for $300.00. In all I'm okay for having had the experience.
