Subject: Re: intermediate shutter speeds on M6?

Friends,

As far as I'm informed (and this is having heard rumours from a
technician):

Leica M4 will allow intermediate speeds (not exact, but somehow
sufficient) as the M6 also does.

BUT:

M4 won't take harm from that, M6 will.
Some unit inside the M6 is designed so weak that there
is the danger the shutter speed setting (or what the heck this is
called) will be damaged if the M6 is used with intermediate speeds.
The meter will meter rather correctly, the speeds arent't too exact,
but intermediate. But, as mentioned, using intermediate speeds can do
harm to your M6 (and, as far as I'm informed, not to an M4, and, not
to a M6J, as this camera is designed somewhat more robust than the M6
- - it's more heavy also, BTW).
Therefore, the manual tells you not to use intermediate speeds.

HTH
