Hopefully others here will have a present day solution but all I am aware
of that fits your compact requirement is the old Leica-Meter 3 which slips
onto the accessory shoe.  Problem here is the 'old' part.  I think it was
last made in the late 50's early 60's and availabilty on the used market
may not be good, not to mention getting a good reliable one. Also its not
a low light performer but would serve well for outdoor use.   Best of luck
