I just had the chance to hold an R8 a couple of days ago. I was very
impressed. Very ergonomic. Surprisingly light. The saleperson said it
was 3500 and was not interested in putting batteries in it. It would be an
interesting excersize for Leica to randomly call their dealers and act like
a customer with some of the folks working the counter. Then call the owner.

Well I also think this camera should win a design award...be in the Museum
of Modern Art etc. I would also call the design Teutonic. It also reminds
me of the look of one of those NFL tight ends or linebackers whose neckline
starts to flow outward from just below their ears. Cool. Bad.

I have also toyed with the F5 and I think the R8 is going to shift me
solidly to Leica SLRs as funds flow accordingly. (I am still in Leicaflex
land) I hope they get the word out effectively on this one. Thanks to all
of you using these prizes for sharing your experiences. I am concerned
with first year bugs so will probably wait a couple of years. Cheers to
all. Nowell
