Hi Folks,

I just got back from a trip to Europe and have enjoyed reading the last
several weeks of Lug digests.

The highlight of my time was the few days I spent around Wetzlar with
my cousin Berndt and visiting the factory where he works. (which is
none other than Leica's camera and optical works)

For those who have not made a pilgrimage to Wetzlar, you really must do
it.

Anyhow, my cousin Berndt took me into a workshop to show me something
I'd really be interested in. He told me that this was something I had
to see. He opened a metal cabinet and pulled out a wrapped object,
about the size of the M-6. I asked him if it was the new M-7, my heart
was pounding, he smiled and said "open it." At that moment the door
started to open at the other end of the room. Berndt said "run, we're
not supposed to be in here". So we took off running, out of the
office, down the hall, and I heard people shouting in German behind me
and Berndt said "keep running".

Well in our rush to leave, I had neglected to put down the camera which
I was still holding as I ran, which probably wasn't a great idea.
But, Berndt said run and run we did.

For those of you who enjoy police shows, you realize that hardly anyone
ever successfully escapes police or security forces, unless they're the
good guys. Well, Berndt figured out that he could probably claim
that he was chasing me and salvage his job. So he yelled something in
German, tripped me and grabbed my foot and started pulling my leg as
hard as he could. Sort of like I'm pulling each of your lug legs right
now. I can't wait until I can get my hands on the actual product
whenever that might be. Till then, I'll just have to dream.
