Subject: what's the Scala image made of?

Some people here have mentioned Agfa Scala lately.  Does anybody here know
what sort of technology it is? - is it chromogenic like Ilford XP-2 or is
the final image formed in real (archivally durable) silver grains?  If the
latter, what happens to it on selenium toning?
