Tamarkin & Co. in NY have confirned that a 35mm/f2 Asph. lens for M
cameras will be released in the coming months. As yet, there is no
scheduled release date in North America, and Tamarkin suspects that
we will not actually see the lens until Fall. The selling price will
be $1495US, not far above the current price for the standard Summicron,
suggesting that Leica intends to eventually conpletely replace the standard
35/f2 Summicron (#11310) with the new model. The new lens is
essentially the same size as the current Summicron, except with a
larger plastic hood with directly-fitting cap.
