     Ben,

I assume Detlef's typo to which you refer is billion vs. million?

If I'm right in this assumption, which please confirm, I understand
that there is some confusion in Europe about US vs. European
     definition of billion and million.

So I checked in my Oxford Encyclopedic English Dictionary.

     Billion

     1. a thousand million (1,000,000,000 or '10 to the 9th')

     2. (now less often, esp. Brit) a million million (1,000,000,000,000 or
     '10 to the 12th')

     Million

     1. a thousand thousand

I don't have a US dictionary to hand.

I hope that this helps clear things up. I believe Detlef thought that
was a difference between the US and Brit definitions, but got them the
wrong way around and then tried to convert (or something?)

     Alistair

Ummm... I don't think so. Typo I assume.
