I would like to suggest that replies are always *on top* of the previous
posting(s) in a thread. That prevents always needing to scroll down thru
text that you have probably already read. If you need reminding, then move
down the screen. 

When I'm in a hurry to get thru the backlog of LUG e-mail, if the new
message isn't right there on top, I just hit the delete key and move on.
