Subject: Durniak Memorial

Any of you who knew John Durniak, former picture editor for TIME, the NY
TIMES, and others, and former editor of  POPULAR PHOTOGRAPHY, will want
to know about a Memorial Service for him. It will be held Dec. 1 on the
8th floor of TIME INC in NYC between 5 and 8 PM.

John, a warm and wonderful man who influenced many of us with his
insights, his enthusiasm for photography and photographers, and his
unique approach to magazine photojournalism at a time when it was the
bean-counters against the rest of us. And John, clearly a part of
management but a free spirit anyway, always sided with the rest of us in
his undying attempt to get the picture, at all costs, and to display it
the best way possible. 

This was an editor who will be sorely missed.
