For each scene I expose six frames, all at the same exposure on a roll of
24.
I note how I exposed and how I am going to develop. In the darkroom I cut
the film into four segments.
I develop each segment as needed. Thus I realize 4 scenes from a roll of 24
exposures (6 from a roll of 36). It may seem a waste but each six-frame
segment is cheaper than a sheet of 4x5 film and less painful to handle.
Also, if I ruin one frame I have at least 4 more to use. I do the same
with
120 film, only I expose 3 frames per scene.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Henri Cartier Bresson used this technique a lot.
That guy jumping across a puddle, he fell in 50 times before HCB reckoned
he'd got 6 frames of him exactly at the right point.
Then he sent the film back to Magnum to be d&p'd and they thought the
out-takes were funnier...
