In his fine camera repair books, Thomas Tomosey notes that mechanical
adjustments of this sort seldom simply "go off", but rather, it's usually
indicative of a need for a CLA job. By far the biggest problem I've
encountered is a failure of the lubricants-when corrected, the camera
generally works fine with no realignment. If it's already messed-up, you
might try calling Leica and see if they'll sell you a service manual. If
not, the M4 manual can be had through Infotech. A good online place to check
out is Fargo Enterprises (www.fargoent.com). I believe that Ed Romney also
has a website, though I don't have the URL handy.
