Fred,
I don't pretend to have the expertise that others on the LUG have but I
spent a year in Europe and shot a ton of Kodachrome.  I had three wide angle
lenses.  A 24mm Nikkor, a 28mm ElmaritR and a 35mm SummicronM.  The 24mm was
clearly the most useful lens among the three in the close confines of
Europe.  I no longer have the  24mm but I've found it to be more useful than
the 28mm.  The 28mm is kinda like all-weather tires, a Jack of all Trades
and Master of None.
