FYI,

I received the following information from a Leica dealer in California:

"M & R rebate programs are now extended thru 4/30/98 . . . and it's true there is a new variation of the M6.  The new body will have a completely redesigned veiwfinder with enhanced brightlines and a magnification of .85%.  Removing the 28mm finder allows for the increase in magnification from 72% to 85%, still not as high as the M3 @ 91%. The current M6 is still in production as the new body will be available in black only. To designate between the two bodies there will be a small etching in the glass of the veiwfinder that states 85 mag. or something to that sort."
