Yes, K-14 films might/should last longer, at least in archival (dark)
storage. With your interest in chemistry, you might be interested in the
reason. Most color films and papers create the dyes with built in
"couplers". These leave residual chemicals which over time can "print out"
or stain. All E-6 and C-41 films will eventually darken and color shift
from this. Kodachrome inserts dyes in the processing, so does not suffer
from this. Don't panic! contemporary films are much longer lasting than
older color films, in spite of this problem.
