Subject: Re: [Leica] R8 and japan

The story that I heard is that the R8 electronics are supplied by
Contax/Yashica.

Apparently after falling out of bed with Minolta, Leica's new Japanese
connection is Yashica. Some future cross capability between the G2
line and M line would be nice.

Strangely enough, this makes the R8 a distant relative of the old Nicca
Rangefinders (screw mount Leica copies ), which Yashica bought out in
the late 50's in order to supply Yashica with focal plane shutter
manufacturing capabilities for the first time.
