No, the LS-20 is 2700 DPI, too.  Would the 36 bit make a significant
difference?  I'm satisfied with the LS-20, but if the LS-1000 is
significantly better, I might consider  upgrading (however, if the choice
is between the scanner and a new M6 .85, there won't be a choice!)  Thanks,
