Subject: [Leica] Old & newer 35 mm Summicrons

Hello LUG readers,

Have any of you used both the old, 1st version of the 35 mm f/2
Summicron-M and the most recent, non-asphirical, version at the same
time? If so, do you have any observations or comments on their relative
performance? I have one of the chrome 1st versions, and am considering
buying a recent model now that many nice examples are available at
semi-reasonable prices. My normal photographic subjects are urban
scenes, villages, and buildings, typically 10 m away and further.
Occasionally I photograph busy subjects like market stalls at 3-5 m
distance. I have noticed that at f/2, my Summicron has a rather strange
look. Another option is the 35 f/1.4 Summilux (non-asphirical, as the
asphirical is beyond my bidget). I welcome comments regarding the
merits of lack of merits in upgrading.

Thanks,

Andy Morang
