Harrison -
Along those lines - not sports but last week Chuck Berry was performing at
the Galveston Mardi Gras outdoors. Not as fast as basketball but for a 71
year old rock performer he can sometimes move pretty fast. Anyway my wife
and I went to get some photos of him and hear his performance - got there
early enough to be right up against the barricade (about 5 feet from the
stage). Mary used her OM1 with normal lense and I used the M6 with 90 2.8
and as a backup I took an N70 with the little 35-80 zoom. The stage was set
so that he had the afternoon sky behind him or part of a white building.
The M6 metering handled his changes in position very well, getting me good
exposures. The N70 was set on auto matrix metering (I should have set it
for spot) and most of those shots were of poor quality. The auto focus
worked ok but the Leica shots were sharper and better focused (even if i did
it instead of whatever mysterious thing does it in the camera).
Tomorrow we are going downtown Houston for the opening of Fotofest and I
will only be carrying the M6.
