My brand new M6HM does not have the wax in the uppermost lensmount screw.
The screw is black, however.  My original M6 (Wetzlar) also never had the
seal, but this was questioned by Rhinhold Meuller (sp?) when I had it in
for servicing  a few years ago, when he was still with Leica Canada.
