Actually, I believe Canon has the exact opposite policy.
ie A Canon lens/camera bought anywhere in the world
will come with an International warranty certificate that
Canon will honour anywhere (else) in the world.  This
makes grey (sorry "gray") market Canon stuff a good
bargain...   ;-)
