Jim,
Please don't blame the Challenger fiasco on manufacturing error. That was
human error. Engineers at the launch site knew that the freezing temperature
would be very bad for the O rings on the booster rockets, and they tried to
stop the launch but NASA politicos wanted the launch to take place so that
President Reagan could discuss the "teacher in space" program during his State
of the Union address that night.
