IMHO professionals NEED to listen to people who are not professional 
photographers.  After all 99.9% of the viewers of our photos are not 
professionals.  It is easy to get caught up in this or that thing and 
to forget that the most important thing photography is good for is to 
communicate. If we loose the ability to communicate with the 
average viewer then we are lost indeed.

I think it is wise to get opinions of both other pro photographers 
as well as the girl at the coffee shop.  Both see different things in 
the photos and sometimes an "untrained" eye sees nice things (or 
glaring problems) we overlook.
