I also had a G2 kit, albeit for a very short time.  I quickly switched
to the M6HM for the same reasons you want to switch.  I would
recommend the same M6 kit I started with......an M6HM and a 35/2
ASPH or 35/1.4 ASPH.  Next get a 50/2 or 75/1.4.
