I too, have purchased a B1; mine's been sitting unused since January, for
want of camera plates. I placed my order for same with Really Right Stuff on
Monday, and look forward to using this combo--can't wait to try it with the
heavy camera, at a low angle. As luck would have it, I also recently
acquired a Gitzo 1228 at a nearly garage-sale price. I'm in awe of this
thing: It's like a transformer toy that folds down to almost nothing,
extends way high, and it's not whippy at all! No doubt I'm going to have a
big silly grin on my face everytime I use this thing.

Just for the fun of it, I may look into availability of 3/8" titanium studs
for the Gitzo, as the stock piece adds surprising mass--all the more
obvious, since the rest is so incredibly light.
