I do indeed tend to put my left hand under the lens, with the thumb under the
camera body. And, yes, I do like the R8 a great deal. When I first held the
body, I too thought it was too thick, but after using the camera for a
relatively short time, I find I rather like the way it handles. It seems
somehow easier to control than the Canon bodies I replaced. I can see how some
folks would like the balance better with the winder attached.
