My experience with the new 21mm. Asph. has been disappointing. The lens
shows vignnetting at all apertures, they are worst at 2.8, 4 and
improve just a bit on 5.6, the edges are soft and get worst at close
apertures, f-16. The infinity focus is poor and is not sharp when you
focus with the scale.

The price is quite high for such a poor performance. You can justify
the expenses if you are a Leicomaniac fanatic. I showed the prints to
people and they have noticed the light falloff and the softness on the
edges. Some of them couldn't believe that they were from Leica glass.
They explained, What happened to Leica! Do they rip-off your money that
easy with that lens?

I tried the 24mm. Asph. and it has the same problem. I know that if
Leica comes out with a 28mm. Asph. I won't buy it. Just because the
lens has aspherical elements or Apo. it is synonymous of an excellent
lens.
