Adrian,

"it doesn't hurt to say where we would like each to concentrate their efforts for the
future, does it? Well perhaps it does to those who treat brand loyalty as an article of
faith (a distressingly large and vocal minority it seems...)"

The crux being that it's an insecure minority that resorts to callous name-calling and
resume recital in response to a (mildly) controvertial assertion. Ben is now the 'devil' and
'shouldn't be allowed to troll' here. Interestingly, the aggresive players are always the
same people.

I suspect that a post which seeks ways to censor on the grounds of plain disagreement is
obtuse in/of itself. I might remind all that many people who post to the LUG come
from countries that have strong traditions of totalitarianism or have restrictions on
free speech. Free speech, whether one finds it stupid/bold/irresponsible or not, is worth
practising here on the LUG if only to avoid a purely status-quo consensus devoid of
interest and limited in its potential to instruct wisely.

As far as disrupting the LUG, all these posts, all of these people who want to be
appointed censors, all of these people who have not learned through the consequences of
what is in fact - their own requested mediocrity, are more the problem than they are the
solution. The clique betrays itself by tuquoque, in their own catcalls.

Also, I notice that people have become intimidated to silence, by posts such as
Dan C's, Eric's, Tina's and MJS's. For instance, many now apologize in their titles for
their own opinions, with meekly stated reactions to flat-out derision and find it 'better'
to suffer self infllicted insults rather than counter self annointed and imposed LUG
'authority' . People do fear the LUG clique and the axe they use on the necks of the
censored.

Between the shouts of Ben as the devil and Eric as a lousy F5 reviewer, there are some
points worth considering. The most agressive trolling however, comes from the calls for
Ben to leave. He has as much right to express his views here as anyone and it is
unbecoming of many on this LUG to suggest that any of us do not share in that most
basic welcome.
