Martin,

I just conducted a little test on this very subject.  I mounted an 35 mm
RF-Summicron on my M3 and noted what the appropriate frame covered.  I then
removed the lens and checked the viewfinder to the very outer edges.  I'd
say that it's pretty close to being the same coverage as the 35 with goggles
showed with the outer frameline.

I came to the conclusion that I'd keep the RF-Summicron for the M3 because
it was too difficult to quickly frame a regular 35 accurately on an M3.

One caveat.  I expose only chromes for projection so I have to frame very
accurately.  If you are capable of cropping your work or just want to be a
photojournalist, it might work for you.
