It can get worse. Last month I got a 35mm Canadian Summicron at what seemed
like an incredible deal.  When it arrived it was a Summicron-R.  The seller
was not familiar with leica, and I didn't ask because I have one of the
Canadian  series Summicrons and on the lens it says Summicron not
Summicron-M.  In the end, I quickly sold the R lens at a small profit and
every thing worked out fine.
