Subject: [Leica] Re: Discount for LUGers

I could credit the LUG for the initial interest that led to my recent
purchases of a Leica M6HM, the Noctilux, 100 mm f2.8 APO, 35-70mm Vario
Elmar f4.0 etc.

I agree however, that Leica's direct newsletter type of marketing has
peaked my interest as much as the LUG and promotes a "be the first at
your dealer" mentality.

I think there is merit in acknowledging LUG purchasing power (maybe we
can attract a managed care broker to be our negotiator). Leica dealers
like Patrick will tell you that there is not much profit in each item.
Of course, I can't speak from personal knowledge if this is really
true. There has to be some pressure for a direct purchasing discount
if we really put our numbers to work. BTW, anybody know how many LUGers
there are?

Leically yours,
