If all you want is a straight-ahead spot meter, I think you'd be hard
pressed to do better than the Pentax Digital Spot.

Mine has withstood substantial abuse, including a ten foot drop onto
wet sand, repeated three foot drops onto the floor, etc. and has survived
with only the cosmetic scars that indicate continuous use.  It remains
perfectly accurate.  For this stellar performance, it has earned its
way into the ranks of 'equipment I'll give up when they pry my
cold dead fingers off of it'.
