Subject: [Leica] Leica M "Electronic"

Well, finally there's evidence that Leica is definitely working on a
Leica M camera with electronics. There is a pic of a prototype
"electronic" M top plate floating around.

From looking at the picture, the "electronic" (EL) top plate is
different then the M6 top plate, it appears that the film advance lever
has been eliminated as there are two holes cut out, one for the film
counter and the other... either for the shutter speed dial or the film
advance lever. This large hole is further away from the film counter
window than the M6 design so my guess is that the (EL) film advance
lever has been eliminated and that the (EL) must have a built in winder.
(remember the R8 winder is very flat). There is also an "on/off" switch
located at around hole.

The LEITZ logo emblem is now located at the front corner where as on the
M6 the letters M6 are engraved on the front corner, and Leica emblem is
near the middle of the camera.
