Ben,

No, the stuff leaves the coatings alone. Opticlean is not new. It's been
used in Europe for several years, and there are several testimonials on
the Web. Also used to clean giant telescope mirrors -- there isn't any
other way. Cumbersome, effective, yes. Harmful, no. 

The manufacturer is legally fearful that somebody will drink the stuff
and sue. In the US, that could happen.
